In February and March 36 children from the school were screened at the Sheikh Zayed regional eye care hospital. Some have had to go back for additional consultation and may require operations. One boy, Baboucarr Kah who is in the nursery class, was lucky to get both eyes operated on and is now gaining a little sight in terms of vision. Before he was totally blind. Alieu Gaye also benefited from cataract surgery and is coping well after the operation. A critical operation needs to be performed on Essa and the doctors are looking to see if it can be done this month.
