Preparing for an overland journey

In October 2009 David and Ken were busy working on a Renault van so that it would be safe to carry passengers on the overland journey to the Gambia in January 2010 (see A Snowy Start to an Overland Journey). The original passenger seats were very comfortable but had no seat belts so changes were necessary. Bob Foster, who runs a coach company in Wensleydale, kindly allowed them to take seats from an old bus.
